Comments: Yes, Atavism was originally conceived of as a furry comic, way back in mid-2001. A lot of things were different back in the furry days; for one, I hadn't even thought of a title for the project. Sigma was some sort of cyborg dromeosaurid, and Arthur and Leander had yet to be "born". It took me about a year before I decided I was going to make a webcomic out of the concept. The drawings you see above depict this phase's Vagrant Grey equivalent.
Anyhoo, I eventually dropped the furry mores and moved onto my "bastardised-to-the-nth-degree" manga style.
